Waste Recycling

Responsible Waste Management

Here at Declan McCormack Vehicle Repairs we have a waste management programme in operation which adds a worthwhile contribution to environmental protection and conservation of the earths natural resources. All waste produced from service and repair work to your vehicle is handled on our behalf by Safetykleen UK Ltd.

Through this arrangement waste materials such as oil, brake fluid, anti-freeze, oil filters and batteries are recycled or re-used in line with best environmental practice.

Safety Kleen are an environmentally responsible company and choose the very best environmental option for each waste stream. As you will see from the list below, the wastes are treated for re-use in all cases :-

What happens to the waste produced from a vehicle service ?

  • Waste Oil: Once treated, is used as a fuel by power stations for the generation of electricity.
  • Antifreeze, Brake fluid, petrol and diesel wastes are reused as a blended fuel in cement kilns for the manufacture of cement.
  • Oil filters are processed to extract the oil from the metal. The oil is used by power stations, the scrap metal is smelted for re-use.
  • Batteries are processed to extract the lead which is recycled for re-use.
  • Tyres are either rethreaded for re-use or granulated and used as crumb for play areas, equestrian centres or even road surfacing.

Safety Kleen are committed to ongoing research and innovation to identify new solutions for both responsible waste disposal and overall waste minimization.

We are registered with the environment agency as a waste producer and this registration allows other registered and responsible carriers to safely remove our waste for re-proccessing and recyling. Our current licence expires on 30/4/2010.
